T+9 days

Wow...what a wild ride. I am now sitting here with the tube out, able to start eating dairy, mobile, semi-active, and walking for exercise. When they took the tube out, the discussed some pretty distressing side effects of the surgery, again. My experience to date has been significantly different, thankfully (I'll spare you the details, you can look 'em up).

I'm told they are slicing, dicing, and analyzing my now spare parts in the lab, and that high level imaging, like electron microscopes are used to see if there is any cancer outside the prostate. I'll have those results on January 19, 2011, so y'all will need to be patient...*Joke*.

I'm still not together enough to sleep through the night routinely for various reasons; when the catheter was in, it was just uncomfortable enough to keep that from happening. The first night it was out, Monday, I slept like a log for almost 9 hours, with one interruption. I still napped for quite a while Tuesday; so, less than 7 hours last night. It's all good, though, because I hear the boss doesn't mind if I nap whenever I feel like it...

Gonna get my walk on, before the weather turns...this IS Ohio.

Six days later

Or...one day till the tube comes out! Feeling a little ish today...not to worry, tho, I've been checking my temperature regularly, and I'm not feverish. Just feeling a little weak, and a little light headed...some may even say, how would I tell...?

Staying mindful of the goal...

And two days till the tube comes out! I'm going to have to take it as an excellent sign that the most discomfort I'm having is from the catheter...Stay on the bright side...after on slight detour...I have to say that food has beed pretty exciting the last 24 hours...both eating it, and seeing how long I can keep it...Until this morning actually. This morning, I had berakfast and I STILL have breakfast...going to have to sort this full belly out, must keep eating...LOL

Again, baby steps...

Sleep, not so much...I spent many of the wee hours handling that business...

Better every minute...I might even try a video post today.

Solid food is still a bit of a challenge. They may have been too optimistic in the hospital, where they served me peas, carrots, mashed potatoes, crackers, and jello after surgery, then eggs, cereal, and pineapple for breakfast; My brother, PG, and Helen, my goddess, fixed me eggplant, hummous, roasted vegetables, and smoked turkey when I got home. I haven't been able to eat since. I am just too gassy and uncomfortable. Not pain, really, just uncomfortable.

I've also been having issues with the catheter...word to the wise, though; the catheter always wins.

on the flip side, I have been sleeping like a rock, and Cong the Wonderdog has been on guard. My peeps have been coming through regularly, but not in any way waking me up or whatever, and I'm just glad to get that milestone behind me...no pun intended.

I've been on a clear liquid diet for the last two and a half days, and I was supposed to fast, but I drank some evil apple juice and some chicken broth...hope I don't get in trouble...

Loooong day today to go with the slooooow start yesterday...I won't gross you out with the details...unless ya want me to...

Let's just say it was a day for cleansing purifying the body, inside and out...

Been on a clear liquid diet since friday midnight...pretty colors...

Sllllllllooooowwww start to this day...seems everyone in mi casa is moving a little slow today. Beautiful day outside, but I'm testing this liquid diet a little bit before I start pushing cars out of snow drifts...

No video yet today, but there's still some daylight left y'all, so don't fret, Cong may reappear. In some moments, I am wondering why I'm not scared, or whatever, but I guess, as I've said before, I'm just focused on the next step...focus...there's a word I don't usually associate with myself that much. Oh, don't misunderstand, I have excellent focus; for entire seconds at a time...

This may be an evolution here, y'all...hope you're watching close...LOL.

Had much testing, some consults...talked to a Radiation doc, a surgeon, lots of people with stories about their father, or uncle, or neighbor. Met the manager of my favorite steakhouse, who told me about getting ready to go in for his second surgery. Cancer is a funy funny thing...folk who had it are a club, prostate cancer survivors, a brotherhood...yeah...club pain, lol...
